Dear Parents,
We hope this letter finds you all well! We are really missing our 5th graders! This Friday, April 3rd will be the first packet pick up from 8:30 - 3:30 at Broad Ford Elementary. It will be set up as a drive-up service. You will pull up to a staff member and let them know which grade level packets you need and they will be handed to you. You will not need to get out of your car. If you have completed the packet that was sent home prior to the closure, it will need to be turned in Friday as well, unless you have submitted it by email.
You will notice that when you pick up your packet it will contain 2 WEEKS of assignments. This packet will be due on Friday, April 17th. Each week will have a sheet that lists work by day and subject area. For 5th grade, English/Language Arts, Science, and Social Studies are all grouped together. Math is separate. For math, you will have to select from a variety of activities. In addition, 5th graders will need to select an activity each day from the choice boards for Art, Music, and Physical Education/Health.
If you have opted for the online version, you can view the PDF version now by going to http://www.livebinders.com/b/2646088. The access code is HOMEK-12. You will click Grade 5 and from there you will be able to select the subject area you wish to view. We are encouraging all online students to wait until Friday to begin working. For now, the assignments are not interactive. This means that you will have to complete the work on paper, take a picture, and then send it to your teacher via email or Bloomz. You can also type your work in Google Drive and then share it with your homeroom teacher. We are hoping that by Friday, students will be able to type directly on the documents and then share them with their homeroom teacher. As soon as this option is available, Mrs. Warnick will post the link in Google Classroom under each of her social studies classes. Online packets are also due on Friday, April 17th.
Please make sure you read the directions carefully. Not all activities will need to be completed. There are many opportunities for students to choose from several options.
If you have questions or concerns about the assignments the 5th-grade teachers are available Monday-Friday from 1-2 pm and from 6-7 pm to talk by phone. We are currently working with our IT department for an extension number to use at home. As soon as we have those extension numbers, we will post them in Bloomz. As always, you can email us or message us on Bloomz anytime and we will do our best to get back to you as soon as possible.
